Week One Production Blog

o What was your initial response to the production Briefs?
We knew we wanted to do something to do with photography and advertising. Bananagrams advertising fits both of these categories.

o What was the process that you undertook to evaluate the given production Briefs?
First of all we decided to do a print brief and something to do with Bananagrams then we looked at some other game advertisements and analyzed them. Now we are pursuing the interest of print advertising through Bananagrams.

o Creating your shortlist: what was your decision and why?
We reviewed the list of print advertising and Bananagrams seemed like a very entertaining product to advertise.

o What initial research have you undertaken to enable you to make your decision?
We studied three different game advertisements- two Scrabble adverts and a Monopoly advert. We found that all of the adverts portrayed very clever messages and made the viewer think. We are going to make sure that our advert is very witty and fun.

WEEK ONE Production Blog

Purpose: to decide upon the Brief you wish to complete and plan the next stage of research

After having considered ALL the Briefs thoughtfully you will have:
• formulated a shortlist of options
• undertaken some basic research into the viability of the Brief
• undertaken some basic research (form, content, style) into the nature of each of the elements of production

The next stage is to plan the work you will need to do in advance of the production stage:
• Select a range (minm. 3) of real texts to deconstruct for each of the production elements
• Identify any technical elements that need to be researched/experimented with

In this initial proposal you must:
• State clearly the brief you wish to complete and who is in the group.
• Explain why you have selected this brief.
• Explain what each of the elements of your selected brief will involve.
• Discuss your initial thoughts about the genre/content/style – what you plan to make?

• Identify (name) your key texts (minm. 3) to be studied for research analysis.
• Identify any areas for technical research/experimentation.
• Create a timetable (tasks & completion dates) for your research and experimentation.

INITIAL PROPOSAL RESPONSE

The brief we wish to complete is print brief number 3- which is a print based advertising campaign for a new product, such as a new clothing range, to include a brand name design, two full-page magazine advertisements and a billboard poster, using original photography.

We have selected this brief because as a group we feel we will be able to express our talents best through this medium. Also because we would like to use as much photography as possible.

The elements involved in this brief are: photography and playing the game.

Our initial thought was to create an advertising campaign on the word game Bananagrams. We plan to make a design of the brand name, two full-pages of magazine advertisements and a billboard poster. We plan for the product to appeal to everyone.

We are going to analyze Scrabble, Boggle and UpWords as part of our research.

The areas of technical research and experimentation are photography and possibly photoshop skills.
